This block contains the characters of the script which was created for writing in the Sogdian language. The alphabet was in use from the 3rd till the 6th century AD in Central Asia. This type of writing preceded [BLOCK:sogdian newer Sogdian]. The main difference between these two systems is that here the letters are not cursive, which means that they are not connected in writing.
