Star U+2739 possesses twenty equilateral rays. A fully painted shape resembles the sun and is often used in this sense. The symbol is used as a typographic decoration, in other words, dingbat. You may come across it in headings and footnotes, highlighted paragraphs and list items. Plus, it is used in ornaments of several thematic icons.
There are more Unicode characters that have the same succinct design as the twelve-pointed star: five-pointed [U:2605], four-pointed filled [U:2726]. A minimalistic sun with an open centre is represented by the symbol [U:263C].
