Sakura tree belongs to the subfamily of plum. Most species almost don't give any fruit - they are planted for aesthetic reasons. Sakura flower has a deep symbolic meaning in Japanese culture. Its image can be seen anywhere: on clothes, dishes, stationery, banknotes, military equipment, bodies of people. Therefore, the emoji flower of Sakura is pretty widespread too.
